1908-tól 1933-ig az Erzsébet körúti Royal Orfeum volt a főváros legszínvonalasabb mulatóhelye. Olyan hely, ahol az irodalmi és a színházi élet nagyjai, de politikusok, üzletemberek is megfordultak. Ahol sikk volt mulatni, ahol szerelmek születtek, vagy akár komoly üzletek köttettek. Főrendező Herczeg Jenő, karmester Márkus Alfréd, díszlettervező évtizedekig Vogel Eric volt. Utóbb átépítették, működött Royal Színház, Royal Varietészínház, Revüszínház és más egyéb neveken, a háború után pl. Royal Revü Varieté, sőt Fővárosi Víg Színház elnevezéssel is. Működése alatt remek kabarészerzőknek, zeneszerzőknek adott állandó fórumot, fellépett mások mellett Josephine Baker, Szőke Szakáll, Nagy Endre is. Az épületet 1955-ben lebontották.
