The Symphony Orchestra / Soundcastle – Let’s Build Music

The Symphony Orchestra / Soundcastle – Let’s Build Music

Just like buildings, pieces of music are constructed from small component parts. From sounds, and from tones, obeying the universal laws of music – and sometimes breaking them. But how are the building blocks of music assembled? In what way do individual instruments and solo parts support and complement each other?

How is music able to become more than just the sum of its parts? The events of the Soundcastle programme series will provide us with answers to all these questions and more.

When it comes to symphonic orchestras, the number of tiny elements that must achieve a perfect interplay between them in order to create an incomparable musical experience is particularly striking. If, however, we are able to fully comprehend the roles of the various instruments and instrument groups, and how they depend on each other, then a new world opens up before us. The final edition of Soundcastle will throw these doors wide open.

A magyar-ghánai Sena Dagadu a 21. századi hazai popzene jelentős alakja, akinek az Irie Maffia zenekar és szólóprodukciói mellett meditatívabb, Sena DagaDub nevű triója is igen népszerű. A formáció 2024-ben a magyar zenei élet élő legendáját, Presser Gábort látta vendégül a Müpában, és az együttműködés annyira jól sikerült, hogy a projekt most mindkét fél – és persze a közönség – örömére folytatódik.

Katalin Ladik, who has roots in Vojvodina, is one of the most exciting figures in Hungarian contemporary literature. Her long career, filled with surprises, bright ideas and unexpected turns, draws on avant-garde traditions, while incorporating reinterpreted elements of more traditional forms of expression into an original poetic language that places them in a new context.

Miles Davis, one of the most recognisable figures in jazz history, would have celebrated his hundredth birthday in 2026. To mark the occasion, a star trumpet player in the world of contemporary jazz, Ambrose Akinmusire, has come together with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra to embark on a joint tour, honour the giant of the genre, pay tribute to his legacy, and go beyond it by creating new works and inventive arrangements that reimagine the Miles Davis’s genius in the context of modern jazz.
