Advent Adventures An interactive family programme with Eszter Bíró

Like her previous shows, Advent Adventures promises an exciting line-up, this time focusing specifically on the upcoming holidays, with Eszter Bíró and her ensemble relating the folk and urban customs of the weeks before Christmas with lots of games, catchy melodies, and an initiation that relies on the active participation of the young audience, with discussion also being devoted to the singer's appealing themes of the passage of time and the meaning of letters.

Advent Adventures An interactive family programme with Eszter Bíró
Age: 3-8 year

The first weeks of December are traditionally spent preparing for the holidays. Just see for yourself: as we get closer and closer to Christmas, we dress up both physically and mentally for the celebration, while everything in our environments almost imperceptibly starts to revolve around the anticipation. It is this magical atmosphere that Eszter Bíró captures in her playful interactive musical show, in which we will not only discover the meaning of Advent candles and other traditions associated with the holiday, but also take a spin through the realm of letters and time.

Müpa Budapest's loyal children's audience no longer needs any introduction to Eszter Bíró, as she has recruited a remarkable camp of fans among them with her shows. And what's more: the singer and actress, whose recognitions include the Fonogram and Value awards, has been producing interactive programmes for children on stage and television for almost a decade, always leaving room apart from the words and tunes for everyone to play together. The programmes The Musical Animal ABC, which introduces the letters of the alphabet, and The Adventures of Time Elf, along with Time Eraser, which wittily deal with the concept of time, a subject that causes much confusion for children, are sure to achieve their aim of nearly imperceptibly teaching kindergarteners and young schoolchildren the concepts that they will need to orient their lives around, naturally without boring the parents, either.

Our offer

Born in Vilnius and with Armenian roots, the soprano Asmik Grigorian is one of the biggest favourites – and no longer an outside favourite – on today’s international opera scene.

Jazzbois first burst onto the scene at the 2017 Müpa Budapest Jazz Showcase. By 2023, they were hosting Kaláka as guests at the Festival Theatre, and, a couple of years later, they were conquering major international festivals: the Leverkusener Jazztage, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and the Montreal Jazz Festival, to name but a few. Jamie Cullum also dedicated an entire BBC radio show to the band, including a conversation with Viktor Sági.

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, Söndörgő is Müpa Budapest’s Ensemble of the Season, which means it will be giving several concerts that break with tradition in the course of the 2025-26 season. Among these will be an evening founded on international collaboration that features three outstanding musicians from the world-renowned progressive jazz-funk-fusion band Snarky Puppy: Michael League, Jay Jennings, and Chris Bullock.
