Throughout its history, the Canadian band Constantinople, led by the Iranian-born Kiya Tabassian, has sought to transcend geographical and temporal boundaries by fostering a dialogue between Persian musical traditions and the music of other cultures and eras. It is fair to say that collaboration is at the heart of everything they do. Meanwhile, the Corsican vocal group A Filetta, formed in the late 1970s with the aim of preserving and nurturing the local polyphonic singing tradition, has also built bridges toward other influences over time. The result of the encounter of these two incredibly open-minded ensembles is a captivating musical interaction of light and shadow.
