Eisemann Mihály és Szilágyi László 1934-ben írta meg a zenés vígjátékot, amely a műfaj egyik legkedvesebb és legszellemesebb klasszikus darabja lett. Remek humor, pimaszság, az ötletek tobzódása, miközben a szerzők elegáns iróniával fejet hajtanak a műfaj szigorú szabályai előtt. Mély emberismeret sejlik föl a bohózat mögül és egy csipetnyi bölcsesség: hogy néha egyetlen tétova pillanaton áll vagy bukik a sorsunk. Szereplőink elcsúsznak a banánhéjon, de puhára esnek. És a darab végén könyörtelenül les rájuk a boldogság, a happyend. A komédiából kiderül, hogy „Holdvilágos éjszakán miről álmodik a lány?”, miért utazik Velencébe fiúruhában egy szerelmes kisasszony, és ki az a „dr. Sas és dr. Vas, a borzasztó furcsa két pasas”.

Attendind a performance of Messiah is always a thrilling experience, but it is especially so when Handel’s work – which has become a national classic in England – is performed by a dedicated ensemble like the legendary German flagship of the international early-music scene: the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, now with over 44 years of history behind it. The storied chamber orchestra will perform with one of the world’s finest mixed choirs, the RIAS Kammerchor, which also hails from Berlin and was founded in the years immediately following the Second World War.
Why is the 400-year-old story of Romeo and Juliette, the world’s best known romantic tragedy, still so relevant today? Because love is eternal, the rebelliousness of youth persists, and the world is still filled with inexplicable contraditions.
This programme is like a lavishly laid festive table set in the heart of Krakow: behind the dishes lie deep emotions, rich tradition and special musical seasonings. It kicks off with Stanisław Moniuszko’s fabulous fantasy overture, which combines a pinch of romance and a helping of fairy dust with lots of dramatic magic.
