A Grease történetét Jim Jacobs szövegkönyve inspirálta, mely William Taftnak a gimnáziumban töltött személyes tapasztalatain alapul. A darab Tom Moore rendezésében került bemutatásra 1972-ben Broadway-n, ahol 3.388 előadást élt meg a 8 év alatt. A musicalből két későbbi Broadway előadás, három londoni és számos professzionális és/vagy amatőr változat született világszerte.
1978-ban a Grease egy hihetetlenül népszerű filmmusicallé vált John Travolta (Danny Zuko) és Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) főszereplésével, ami azonnal világsiker lett, extrém népszerűségét pedig tovább folytatta egészen 2013-ig, ahol is a legmagasabb nézőszámú musical lett az Egyesült Államokban.
Az 1959-ben játszódó tini-történet elején Danny és Sandy között a nyári szünetben románc szövődik. A nyár véget ér, a fiatalok útja külön válik. A gimiben azonban újra összefutnak. A sok civódás után boldog a békülés, a történet happy end-del végződik.
Belőtt sérós bőrdzsekis fiúk, cicanacis és pörgő szoknyás lányok, lázadás és szex, pomádé és rock and roll jellemzi a csillogó revü party musicalt! Olyan legendás dalok szólalnak meg, mint a Belehalok, a Csupa csoda vagy az Együtt a banda. A slágerek mellett a tánc és a színpadi látvány ígér egyedülálló élményt, amitől a Grease lesz az idei év végének legnagyobb színpadi attrakciója Magyarországon.

Attendind a performance of Messiah is always a thrilling experience, but it is especially so when Handel’s work – which has become a national classic in England – is performed by a dedicated ensemble like the legendary German flagship of the international early-music scene: the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, now with over 44 years of history behind it. The storied chamber orchestra will perform with one of the world’s finest mixed choirs, the RIAS Kammerchor, which also hails from Berlin and was founded in the years immediately following the Second World War.
A rainbow of sounds from the orchestra, enigmatic dialogues and mysterious riddles. Not to mention a treacherous dwarf and a glorious young hero. Who after slaying a dragon and tasting its blood, is able to understand the prophetic singing of a bird. And then crosses through a wall of fire to discover both the woman who is his mate and, through his love for her, fear.
The release of the volume A bilincs a szabadság legyen (‘Let the Shackles Be the Freedom’), a collection of the correspondence between Miklós Mészöly and Alaine Polcz, generated a significant level of interest in the writers’ private lives and literary work that, it is no exaggeration to say, continues to this day. Apart from the strong emotional bonds shared by several literary couples we could mention, it is perhaps the letters of these two authors that reveals the most thought-provoking ideas.
