Nyirő József azonos című nagyhatású novellája többek között alapjául szolgált Szőts István 1942-ben bemutatott, a Velencei Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál fődíját elnyert „Emberek a havason” c. filmjének. Az Újszínház a korszakalkotó film bemutatásának 70. évfordulóján, e mű színrevitelével tiszteleg Nyírő József írói életműve előtt is.
