In Saint Petersburg, a penniless German soldier seeks happiness, which he believes money will bring to him. A secret kept by an elderly countess might help him amass wealth, and under uncanny circumstances, the secret is revealed to him. Three, seven, ace: “The Queen of Spades”, however, has her revenge...
The Tchaikovsky brothers wrote this gripping, romantic drama based on Pushkin's spine-chilling novella, and it is still counted among the most popular of all Russian operas.

Our offer

The dice and the stopwatch will be coming out again at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall as it hosts another round of musical ‘battle’. When we talk about instrumental duels in the Hungarian capital these days, it is no longer necessarily Bach and Marchand, or even Liszt and Thalberg, that we are thinking of, because we have our own riveting concert series right here at Müpa Budapest.

Andonis Foniadakis’ latest choreography, created for Ballet Pécs, explores Baroque themes in a dynamic and deeply expressive way, and from the perspective of contemporary dance and music.

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble's nativity programme counts down to the night of the birth of Jesus, with scenes that are sometimes comic and other times heart-warming.
