Szabó Magda azonos című regénye alapján színpadra alkalmazta: Barnóczky Ákos és Bánfalvy Ági.
Szabó Magda Abigél című műve, harmincöt-negyven éve a kiapadhatatlan érdeklődés középpontjában áll, legyen szó a sokadik kiadását megélő regényről, az abból készült, évről-évre ismét levetített tv-filmsorozatról, vagy akár a mű musicalváltozatáról. Mindezen tények alátámasztják, hogy Vitay Georgina és társainak története olyan kulturális identitásunk részét képező mű, amely minden generáció számára meghatározó érvényű jelentőséggel bír.
E közkedvelt alkotásból Bánfalvy Ági, az 1978-as tévésorozat egyik főszereplője készített színpadi adaptációt, Szikora János rendező segítségével.
