Egy nagy generáció talán utolsó képviselője, a nyolcvannyolc éves Zubin Mehta korunk egyik legnagyobb karmestere. Stiláris és műfaji sokoldalúsága, muzsikálásának közvetlensége és kifejező ereje legendás – ahogyan az általa képviselt humánum is az. A humánum követeként járja a világot a Daniel Barenboim által 1999-ben alapított, jórészt közel-keleti és spanyol ajkú muzsikusokat tömörítő Nyugat-Keleti Díván Zenekar is, a művészi maximalizmus és az egymás iránti tolerancia jegyében. Beethoven–Schubert-műsoruk: a VI. (F-dúr, „Pastorale”) és a VIII. (h-moll, „Befejezetlen”) szimfónia, e két kompozíció a bécsi klasszika és a születő romantika határvidékéről felejthetetlen pillanatokat ígér.
